Beat the spring crowds and experience New Orleans like a local this summer! We won’t lie, it is hot, but it’s the perfect excuse to don seersucker.

The festival calendar this year includes a lot of tried and true celebrations like White Linen Night and The Running of the Bulls as well as a few newcomers like the second annual NOLA Black Restaurant Week and the NOLA Downtown Music and Arts Festival.

Here are a few events + festivals we’re looking forward to at Catahoula Hotel:

New Orleans Summer Festivals + Happenings

June 28th – July 7th: Black Restaurant Week

This is the second iteration of this national festival in New Orleans. From NewOrleans.com: “Black Restaurant Week is a national celebration of African American, Caribbean and African cuisine and chefs.” BRW will feature special deals, menus, and events at mainstays like Morrow’s and Dooky Chase.

July 13th: The Running of the Bulls

If you’re visiting this summer for your Bachelor or Bachelorette, this is one the biggest day-drinking events in the city… and we aren’t shy about day-drinking. Members of the New Orleans Roller Derby mimic Spain’s Running of the Bulls by chasing after revelers all over Downtown New Orleans. The fun starts at the Sugar Mill.

July 14th: The Rolling Stones at The Superdome

Catch the Stones on their No Filter Tour at the Mercedes Benz Superdome. Catahoula Hotel is about 10-minute walk from the Dome and we’re hosting a very special Pre-Show Party with drink specials and a soundtrack sure to satisfy.

July 16th – 21st: Tales of the Cocktail

New Orleans is home to a world-class cocktail conference every July. While the conference has an industry-focus and international attendance, many of the events including pop-ups and happy hours, are open to the public. Some of the world’s best bartenders will be showing off their skills at these events and you should definitely drink it up.

August 3rd: Hancock Whitney White Linen Night

Summery white attire is a must for this Julia Street art gallery festival. Live music, drinks, and food accompany impressive art installations in the Warehouse District. There’s plenty of art you can bring home with you too!

August 2nd – 4th: Satchmo Summerfest

This *very* affordable ($6/day y’all!) jazz festival takes place at the New Orleans Jazz Museum at the Mint. Satchmo Summerfest packs out The Mint for 3 days with the best local brass bands, jazz musicians and more talent.

August 25th: Mid-Summer Mardi Gras

Catch the St. Charles streetcar and take it all the way to the Riverbend for Mid-Summer Mardi Gras, a neighborhood-centric night of live music and costumes on Oak Street.
