There’s been much ado about Tales of the Cocktail over the course of the last year. New Orleanians and international bar professionals alike are excited to see what next week’s iteration of the ever-growing festival will look like under the new leadership of Cure Co.’s Neal Bodenheimer.
In his first year of Tales ownership, Bodenheimer vows to address industry-wide issues surrounding diversity, sexual violence, mental health and substance abuse. While Tales of the Cocktails is primarily for pros in the beverage industry, the Catahoula Hotel is hosting a few events that week which will be open to the public. We want to invite locals to join in on the fun, without having to know how to use a set of shaker tins. On Wednesday, July 18th, at 8 PM we’re hosting a special screening of Jaws on our Rooftop Terrace with drink specials from Baron Samedi
Spiced Rum and inflatable pools to cool off in. There are no sharks in the pools, we promise!
You can catch our former Beverage Director–Nathan Dalton–teaming up with our current Beverage Director–Geoffrey Ian Ward–at the Annual Peru Tasting Room for Chilling with Chilcanos. Geoff, Nathan, and
seven other world class bartenders will be mixing up riffs on the refreshing Peruvian cocktail on Thursday, July 19th, from 3 – 5 PM at the Hotel Monteleone as part of the Tales of the Cocktail Tasting Room program.
On Friday, July 20th from 6 – 8 PM, we’ll have a Happy Hour at Piscobar with the super knowledgeable National Brand Ambassador for Mezcales de Leyenda, Issel Campos. Cocktails will include the Tepa by
Hamei Hamedifard of San Francisco. The Tepa is an a la minute take on Mexican tepache, with pineapple, mezcal, agave nectar, and apple cider vinegar for a tangy recreation of the slightly-fermented beverage.
We can’t wait to see all of our bar friends from far and wide! Stay hydrated, stay full–maybe full of dumplings from Midnight Noodle–and have a Happy Tales!
