Live Music Picks in New Orleans: Mid-November

With Sun Ra Arkestra at the Music Box Village and Charlie Halloran and his Calypsonians at the Catahoula Hotel, this week is all about talented artists in amazing spaces. Here are our live music in New Orleans picks for this grey week in November.

Tuesday, November 13th:

Released on Mexican Summer + Burger Records and pretty dang representative of these two indie darling record labels, Part Time are playing a free(!) show at Poor Boys Bar with support from Macavoy.

Wednesday, November 14th:

Mike Dillon, Aurora Nealand, and James Singleton are a trio of veteran NOLA powerhouses and will be taking the stage at the intimate Mid-City jazz club, SideBar.

Thursday, November 15th

Charlie Halloran and his Calypsonians play an intimate set at the Catahoula Hotel, featuring the music of Mighty Sparrow, Duke of Iron, Lord Melody, Cyril Diaz, and a host of orchestras from the French Caribbean. Tropically-tinged tiki cocktails featuring Cane Land Distilling rums and rhums will be featured on a special menu. This event will take place on our Rooftop Terrace, weather-permitting.

Friday, November 16th:

The Sun Ra Arkestra plays on with 91-year old Marshall Allen leading the band since Sun Ra has returned to his home planet of Saturn. The Arkestra is taking on unique and interactive performance space, the Music Box Village. Space is the place.

Saturday, November 17th:

Psych-soaked distortion pedal wizard Ty Segall goes acoustic at One Eyed Jacks.

Sunday, November 18th

Take it easy and come down to the Catahoula Courtyard for a November Night Market featuring local makers.
