New Orleans Events and Live Music: Post-Labor Day Weekend, September 2nd – 8th

The local events and festival calendar is heating up as we start getting impatient for the weather to cool down. Between Lil’ Weezyana Fest and the Tropinola Burlesque Show, things are steamy! Sultry! And hopefully have air conditioning.

Tuesday, September 3rd: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard at the Joy Theater

Prolific–and I do mean prolific–micro-tonal loving outfit King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are playing at the Joy Theater this evening. The band explores damn near every out-there genre, so there’s sure to be a song to please every music nerd. We’re just a few blocks away from the Joy, so definitely grab a go-drink from Piscobar before ya get weird with it

Wednesday, September 4th: NOLA Tribe Yoga at Tchoup Yard

Burn off some of those beignets with our friends at NOLA Tribe Yoga, a pop-up yoga studio that hosts classes in unconventional spaces.

Thursday, September 5th: WWOZ Groove Gala at Tableau

Much beloved local radio station WWOZ is hosting a benefit with Irma Thomas, Amanda Shaw and a few more New Orleans favorites at Dickie Brennan’s Tableau, nestled right next to Jackson Square.

Friday, September 6th: Tropinola Burlesque at One Eyed Jacks

Catahoula Hotel is sponsoring this special evening of live, tropically-tinged music and some of the world’s finest burlesque at moody One Eyed Jacks in the French Quarter. Music from Daria & The Hip Drops and Marina Orchestra, and burlesque by the award-winning Frankie Fictitious should make for a great evening. BONUS: INSIDE. AIR-CONDITIONING. YES.

Saturday, September 7th: 5th Annual Lil’ Weezyana Festival at UNO Lakefront Arena

After a drama laced tour with Blink 182 earlier this summer, Lil’ Wayne is coming to his hometown with heavy-hitters like Megan Thee Stallion, Meek Mill, Travis Scott and more at the UNO Lakefront Arena. A portion of proceeds also benefit educational initiatives for NOLA youth, aw!
