A slow August week in New Orleans is the perfect time to take advantage of smaller crowds and hit some must do/eat/drink checklist items. Think legends like Commander’s Palace, Carousel Bar, Friday lunch at Galatoire’s, or Sunday brunch at Brennan’s.
Events this week are few and far between, but here are a few highlights:
Mac Sabbath at Santos, Wednesday, August 15th:
Do you love McNuggets? Do you love Black Sabbath Volume 4? If you fall into the strange overlap of this particular Venn diagram, you’re in for a real McFlurry of a treat. Mac Sabbath will be playing their burger-inspired covers of hits off Master of Reality (that’s the best one, we can fight about it) and more at Santos this Wednesday. Pregame with vegan snacks to stave off hunger-inducing heavy metal with us.
Dine with Sharks at Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, Thursday August 15th:
Sustainable seafood! Wine! Shark-side dining! Some very cool NOLA chefs–including Dana Honn of Carmo and Ryan Prewitt of Pêche–will be serving up a five-course meal at the Aquarium this Thursday. Edit: This dinner is sold out but keep your eyes peeled for September.
NOLA International Foodie Fest at Deja Vieux Food Park, Saturday, August 17th:
A bit mysterious and new to the New Orleans festival circuit, this international fête is taking place at Deja Vieux Food Park in the LGD.
Saints at Chargers, Sunday, August 18th:
Yeah, it’s only preseason, but there is always a palpable change in the local climate when Saints season rolls around. Visit one of the many watering holes screening the game, including Piscobar, where we’ll be showing this match on a big screen.
